Nutritive Evaluation of Soybean (Glycine max.) on Broiler Performance
Abstract
The objective of this study was to evaluate the nutritive
value and to determine the optimal inclusion level of extruded soybeans
on broiler perfomance. Two hundred day old male broiler Loghman chickens
obtained from commercial hatchery were randomly distributed into 40
groups. Two experimental diets i.e. raw soybeans (M) or soybeans
extruded (E) were arranged as a 2 x 5 nested combination of level
inclusion on diets. Extruded soybeans or raw soybeans were then
incorporated at 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% inclusion in broiler diets.
During starter phase, broiler were fed diets containing 3200 kcal/kg ME,
23% crude protein for the finisher phase broiler were fed diets
containing 3200 kcal/kg ME, 20% crude protein. Result of this experiment
showed that extrusion processing decrease trypsin inhibitor activity
and urease activity. Treatment
extruded soybeans showed difference (P<0.05) on feed consumption,
body weight gain, feed:gain ratio, mortality and income over feed cost.
There was no difference in carcass wieght, edible meat weight, abdominal
fat weight, liver weight and pancreas weight (P>0.05). There were
significant effect level inclusion nested on treatment (P<0.05) on
feed consumption, body weight gain, feed:gain ratio, income over feed
cost, edible meat weight, abdominal fat weight, liver weight and
pancreas weight. But there were no significant effect level inclusion
nested on treatment (P>0.05) on mortality and carcass weight.
Extrusion processing conducted on soybean increase feed consumption,
body weight gain, income over feed cost, but reduce feed:gain ratio,
mortality, abdominal fat weight, liver weight, and pancreas weight.
There no differences between level inclusion of extruded soybeans on
body weight gain, feed:gain ratio, mortality, income over feed cost,
edible meat weight, abdominal fat weight, liver weight, and pancreas
weight. It was concluded that using extrusion soybeans on broiler diet
showed satisfactory on broiler performance. It’s suggested to used up to
20% extruded soybeans in broiler diet (JIIPB 2009 Vol 19 No 2:
100-112).
